xbox 360 woes

I think my xbox is dying it often struggles to play games and sometimes doesn't recognise disks. Is this a common problem? Its not that my games are scratched either, I got gears of war 2 this week, opened the box and put it straight into the xbox where it stayed. It played okay for, Id guess 6 hours (not constant), but now it won't read the disk, sometimes starts loading then comes up with the unable to read disk message, other times I just get a message saying "please insert this disk into an xbox 360 console" ffs! IT IS!!! Ive tried using a lens cleaner and checked the disk for scratches.

has anyone else had anything similar?

Yeah it wil die eventuly. Mine took a year though!

3 red lights though so it was fixed under warranty.

Mine's done the "the disc is unreadable" message since I've owned it and it's fine at the moment, touch wood. Are the new Elite's any more reliable, when mine finally dies I might just buy one of those rather than sending it off to M$ for them to "Fix".

If I was to send it to ms as it is now, would they just send it back as no fault found do you think? will they only do something when it red rings? perhaps if I leave it on wrapped in a towel for a while........

or swap it for my bro's when he's not looking haha

Is it easier to play Forza on a dead 360?
