Hope someone can help. I have a 3 year old Xbox360 which has suddenly stopped working. With everything plugged in correctly, I get sound but no visuals other than little dots which go across the screen diagonally from bottom left to top right.

I have borrowed a friend's scart lead, it made no difference. All the ports seem clean, and even a well aimed (and gentle) kick made no difference.

Is it time for a new one or does anyone have any hints?

Mine did something similar but with RROD too. Needed a new graphics chip.

Is it OVER 3 years old? If not then google "damp towel and RROD", that might help;)

None of them are yet, think we've got a little under a month until they reach 3 years.

Thanks people, most appreciated.

I shall google the damp towel method, see what that's about. The unit was purchased in August 2006, so not really 3 years old. I haven't tried a different tv - would that make a difference? My TV has 2 scart points, both work with my dvd player...

So basically I force it to display a RROD, then ring MS and ask for a replacement?? Is that how it works? Will they just send out a new one or repair mine?

Just thought - I don't have a reciept as it was a freebie through work, will that affect my case?

Make it RROD.

Does the Sale of Goods Act cover the fact that you would reasonably expect a console to last more than 3 years and they should fix it anyway?

RIng them, all the info on the xbox.com website. Register the console number to you, shouldnt need a reciept. They send a packing slip and you arrange a collection. 1 week later new box is in your hand...all being well.
