I have a problem getting the rear view mirrors to display in rFactor.

I have set the mirrors to On but they are not shown.

I had this problem before and changing the mirrors to off, closing rFactor then reloading and setting them to On fixed it.

But now this wont work and I cant get them to show up.

This will be a big problem when racing tomorrow, last time this happend in a race I caused a couple of crashes as I couldnt see who was behind me.

Is there anything I can do to fix it or will I have to reinstall yet again frown

Try looking on your PLR file and setting the mirrors in there.

Do a search on mirror and change the options usually either 0, 1, 2, or 3 until you have what you want.
There's also a feature there for open wheel cars to put rear wings and rear wheels in the rear view mirrors as well smile

It still wont work frown

It was set to "1" which is all mirrors.
Ive tried changing it to "2" (rear only) and they still didnt show up.

I also tried changind some of the other mirror settings but it didnt help.

Is there anything else I can try?

get one of those Halfords universal rear view mirrors and stick it to your monitor?

Is there also a setting in the "settings" section of the game that turns on and off 3d or virtual mirrors? Or is that another game I'm thinking of. They might be conflicting.

Another option is to map a key to 'Look Behind', I tend to use this quite a lot when racing online.

I'm sure your problem could be fixed by a setting in the PLR file as someone has already suggested.

If you're using Vista, remember that the settings will be in USERS/YOURACCOUNTNAME/DOCUMENTS/RFACTOR/USERDATA/PLAYERNAME.

I map the option to look left and look right to buttons on the wheel and if you press them both at the same time you get the full look behind view.

I have this mapped already but its no substitute for mirrors.

Luckily I think I have fixed it.

I changed the shader level to DX9 in the settings program and the mirrors are working now. Its a big slower so I will have to reduce some other settings. Now I will be able to see Marc W coming into the first corner.

Hehe.

To be honest I dont think you have ever crashed into me on the first lap of a race. The last few I have crashed on my own without any help biggrin
