Wii console stand/remote charger

Looking at the stands and remote chargers on ebay is a little confusing.
Are the stands with a fan really neccesary?
Are they noisy?
Do the ones with chargers built in need the Wii switched on to charge them?
Or am i better off getting just the charger system thats not built into the stand?

Any reccomendations?

had a wii stand with a blue led and fan, not noisy at all, they should be still on there, think it was £7, not bad for peanuts, just depends if you want somthing different

Our stand which is a stand alone unit still connects to the wii via USB so it needs power from the wii to charge the handsets.
