Best racing game and steering wheel for PS3?

I've had a PS3 for nigh on a year now for High Def purposes but I think its high time I got a decent racing game for it .

Now, what are people's favourites? I'm assuming that Gran Turismo 5 will be high on the list, but it's been so long since I played a computer game (Colin McCrae on the PS1 i think!) that I need some advice.

Also, how are these new force feedback steering wheels? The one I tried years ago was a load of bks and I am hoping they have got a lot better so any recomendations? Are they worth the money and do they add to the experience? Crucially, are they realistic?

logitec g25 wheel, shifter and (3) pedals is the only way to go

I've got a logitech driving force pro, which I got for Gran Turismo 4. It has 900 degree rotation and the force feedback works well, weighting up the steering as you go. The G25 would be even better!

Try picking up Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli cheap as well. It;s a little rough round the edges but it's a fantastic game all the same. GT5 Prologue has to be your first port of call though.

G25 is awesome. 900 degree rotation, 2 force feedback motors. full 6 h pattern box with clutch or use sequential with stick or paddles. Also, wheel is metal as are pedals and they have different spring rates so each pedal is weighted differently.

Now someone will say the Porsche wheel by fanatec, but its more cash and from feedback from mates very close, both have plus and negs over each other, but i haven't used one yet, plus i picked mine up for £100 - bargain

The G25 is a fantastic bit of kit, very tough and I think it will last many many years of regular use. The pedals are fantastic, very sturdy and strong. The shifter is a bit lightweight and I think the porsche shifter is better, although I use the paddle shift on the wheel.
