I buy lots of games; have all the latest, Fallout 3, COD4, Bioshock, Crysis etc etc. However, I either cannot find the time to get into these games, or they’re hyped more than their playability (from my personal point of view, I know they are all great games – apart from Crysis which has silly spawning of enemies, which spoils the enjoyment for me, as you can’t stay in one area for any length of time)

I always, seemingly without fail, always go back to my ‘comfort zone’ games, which are Rome Total War and Sins of a Solar Empire. One huge exception to the new glut of games I bought is Left 4 Dead – an amazingly addictive simple but effective shoot ‘em up, not cutting edge graphics, but more than good enough, plus great pick and playability (May have to get another copy, as my step son gets on it before me!)

What are games that, long term, you can’t help coming back to?

(All PC games, btw – but Tomb Raider was played to an inch of its life of the PS – we have a PS3, tried Drakes Fortune and the new Tomb Raiders, but fiddly controls put me off…)

Funnily enough, I've gone back to Drakes Fortune several times as it's good fun and short enough to whip through on a lazy weekend.

Games that keep me coming back though have to be the Guitar Hero/Rock Band ones, I can pick them up after a few months, then after a quick 10 minute period of getting back into the rhythm start to beat my old scores, with no reasonable explanation as to how.

I also enjoy going back to racing games like Project Gotham and Forza, whether to live out my automotive fantasies or just for a blast I'm not sure.

My EEE PC can't run the latest games but runs Sim Golf brilliantly.

Totally agree.

Football Manager was a huge problem when I was at uni in the mid 90's due to the amazing timewasting abilities of that game...

No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 (AKA NOLF)

Brilliant games, basically FPS 60's comedy spy spoof stuff, great graphics and music.

Really recommended. smile
