Hello,

Just checking if this is normal.

I've just got a 1080p telly and have set the xbox to 1080p.

It's an older 360 so it is using component at the moment.

I've noticed on GTA4 that the nearest objects are drawn well and the background scenary is done in an art style (Can't remember the type of art)

I'm sure it is done on purpose to help the console keep up, trouble is, when driving around you seem to get to the badly drawn area too quickly and so you can't really see what is going on so well and it makes having HD less worthwhile.

Has anyone else noticed this? Should I bung the resolution down to a more sensible level?

Is this normal on an Xbox ?

Thanks.

Your talking abotu cell shaded?

The 360 shouldnt be rendering the game at anything other that what the game wants to render at, then scaling to what you've selected as the output.

Though sounds like it could be running at 1080i? You can always drop it to 720p and see how it goes, IMO theres little point in running a 360 at anything higher anyhow (unless you have the HD drive).

AFAIR component can't do 1080P, you'll need HDMI for that. scratchchin
Component can handle up to 1080i. smile

Noes component is fine with 1080p, unlikely the TV is though.

I know Component can handle 1080P, but I didn't think the 360 could output @ 1080P through component...

In fact ignore me, I must have been talking st.
According to the MS website it can do 1080P.
Like you said, probably just the TV!

It's a sort of depth of field thing they have going on in order to keep the game running smoothly, background objects go out of focus and render in when you move closer. This means that the entire city can be rendered at once (when you're in a helicopter for example) without grinding the machine to a complete standstill.

Have you tried copying the game to the hard drive? Might be a case that the game can't load the textures fast enough off the disc.

I have it on my HDD and the only place I have the textures not load is coming from the first island to the Toll bridge too fast and it can't keep up.
