I got mine from ASDA as my mum works there so my mum got me discount. and its a 60gig so i wouldnt be able to return it to asda as they dont make the 60 any more. so it looks like i have no other option but to get it repaired by them even tho its a lot of money. I would rather pay 145 to get it repaired than buy an xbox lol

Sorry to hear your PS3 packed up but I have to say, I love the bit you highlighted in bold.

I've had two 360s go wrong on me and one was repaired FOC and the other I had to pay the grand total of £20 to fix which was eventually refunded to me when they sent me a brand new console.

£145 would buy you a new 360 AND you would have aload of people to play CoD5 with. wink

Anyway, I hope you get it fixed soon. smile

no disrespect to you xbox fans just im a sony man plus i watch blueray films to so PS3 is best for me. But i have given thort to an xbox like you said i could get 1 and cod 5 for the price of the repair. Does sound to me that microsoft look out for ther customers better than sony do.

Try the Sale of Goods Act. I've had a number of electrical goods replaced outside manufacturers warranty period. Contact your local Trading Standards for advice. Best of luck!

Considering the harping that goes on when a Xbox failure is posted, I didn't think PS3's broke....

Sorry - that sucks. only a years warranty sucks too considering they cost significantly more than an Xbox.

WHat exactly is broken on it? How can they diagnose this over the phone? I'd suggest calling them again and, even though it's out of warranty, state the Sale of Goods Act section 16 that it should be Fit for Purpose?
