GT 5 Prologue gripes

In S class. What is the point of the goddam penalty for doing anything which is remotely seen as gaining an advantage?

Its difficult enough without having 5 second penalties when someone brushes the side of my car without me knowing. Or I overcook a corner and have to come back on myself in order to get back on track and I get a 5 second penalty for cutting the corner, eh?! How does that work!? Am I the only one that hope they remove these from the full version?

Another quick question, which do you think is the most difficult car to control with all the drivers aids turned off? So far my vote goes to the Ford GT.

I think the penalty system is essential, particularly when playing online. However, in it's current form it is extremely inconsistent and frequently unfair.
The most annoying examples I have found are: When another car clatters yours, the penalty is all too frequently applied to your car, not the one who has driven into you.
Also, you slightly misjudge a corner, one wheel brushes the grass - 5 second penalty, whilst other competitors blatantly cut out whole corners and rejoin the track frequently unpunished.

they cars handling unrealistically is the biggest problem with this game, I used to love GT but they've lost their way. Forza on the other hand seems to be going from strength to strength (gosh, never thought Id be siding with the X-Box crowd!)

It's just adding extra realism to the racing with bizarre and unreasonable penalties - did you not watch last year's F1 championship?

Have you got the latest software update? I had similar gripes when I first played the game but, many of these penalties are now gone. You'll get penalties for cutting corners but, rubbing against other cars is allowed.

eta - my gripes however were specifically with the events, not the standard races so, I can't really comment on these.

had a race last night on high speed ring, on the esses just before the tunnel, someone behind me hit my rear quarter panel...but i received a ramming penalty...

GT5P has potential. hopefully that potential will be fully realised in the full game.

See that's what I don't get. Gran Turismo, claims, and always has claimed to be 'the real driving simulator'. The attention to detail is second to none, the cars exterior and interior are stunning, hell they even sound exactly right. So why spoil it by putting something thats so unrealistic? 5 second penalties for everything and making the car invisible (seems like the developer is spending too much time on Mario Kart!! )

The real problem with GT is the matchmaking.

You can't race against mates or set up private tracks. So you end up racing against idiots who will rather ram you off the track than let you complete a perfectly fair pass.

I've given up on it. Play my racing on PC now.
