Forza vs Gran Turismo

I havent got a console but looking at either xbox 360 or PS3.
Now the 2 games i love - GTA4 and Gran Turismo are both only available on PS3.
However i know i can get GTA4 on xbox and the console is cheaper.
So thinking about the driving game component i see Forza is well received.
I like GT as its real world cars and seems to be very pretty, albeit awaiting an update of braking and handling specs in the full release.
How does Forza compare to GT in terms of reality, real cars fun etc?
In other words, is it any good and would you buy the console on the strength of Forza?

gtp is cheap and will tied you over till the launch of GT5, forza is good but dont rate it anway near GTP if you want a reall driving game, as overall the ps3 console is best i personally think but the fan boys will be over shortly, just the fact of bit better graphics, blu-ray, no online subscription fee, built in wireless, nicer too look at, quiter console, more reliiable, and now some fantastic exclusives like, little big planet, killzone, god of war which will really piss 360 owners off

and Gran turismo 5, hey im a 360 owner too I cant comment on the PS3, but Forza is great on the Xbox and online gaming with the PH crowd is great with regular championships being held (Retro Rally and Nations cup at the moment aswell as a tuning / painting comp and drifting challenges) and newbies always welcome. Many of the 'older' crowd regularly have giveaways and the AH on XBL is a laugh.
Oh yeah........Forza 3 isn't far away too, although I think alot of us will still be playing FM2 long after its release.

Depends how long you think you'll be entertained by 5 tracks as to whether you should plump for Forza or GT5:P. Personally I found Prologue to be little more than a morsel of food, a canape before the sit-down meal of the full game and I played it for a few days then shelved it. I'm still going back to Forza 2 now as there is a vast number of tracks and cars, along with a very good online system.
By the sounds of the latest rumours it will be early next year before we see the full GT5 and there is every chance that Forza 3 will be out before it. Personally I can't wait for the full-fat GT5 to arrive, but then I don't think that GT5 Prologue could keep me busy until next year.
Another little thing that might interest you is the GTA side of things, yes you can play it on both PS3 and 360, but there is already one (absolutely brilliant) expansion pack out for the 360 version that won't be coming to the PS3 and another is due to arrive around October/November time.

Basically Buy an XBOX if multiplayer is your thing.. you pay for subscription (£39.99 a year) but its the easiest and best of its kind. PS3 is slow, and the games just dont seem to GEL with multiplayer.
I've tried doing co-op on little big planet and gave up due to ridiculous lag.
However... the PS3 does have far superior graphics and does have GT5.... the whole reason i bought it. That said... the only reason ive used it in the past year....is the GT5 time trials on here!!
XBOX on the other hand i use daily for hours at a time. Forza isnt nearly as realistic driving wise BUT GT5 you have a game and then have to exit and join another game. Whereas forza you just join and game.. that it your in for the night!! with 8 reliable players.
There are also way more games for the xbox racing wise.. you have race pro which is good... tries to be realistic and is better than forza but still isnt GT5 good.
Im not putting a downer on the PS3 im really glad i've got one but until GT5 comes out XBOX really does have the upper hand with driving games. Due to the fact you get more involved, i.e. play with the same people online and get to know them and get involved with wanting to win!

While it's a different prospect to GT, it's a great game and well worth the money. I've played it almost exclusively since I bought it. I reckon I spent more time playing FM2 than I ever did playing GT4 (and I played a LOT of GT4, I think I wennt through 4 discs and 2 consoles).
Even if the cryptic messages on GTPlanet are to believed, and GT5 really is out in November, then I'd still go for the 360/FM2 combo to while away the next 7 months.

LBP- friend who is a ps3 fanboi got bored of it quickly. he says its good but you've got to wade through tons of s and Gran turismo 5, hey im a 360 owner too

GTA4 was built for the Xbox, then essentially ported to the PS3.I'd personally get a 360 if I was in your position, better (in my opinion) online services/ergonomics, plus they're so cheap at the minute you cant argue. By the time GT5 is released, some figures still suggest 2010, PS3's will be cheap enough (new, let alone preowned) to buy as an extra toy.
