Seems like Natal may actually be the next Xbox...

Hmmm I guess it'll be very late 2010, otherwise surely they'd have pushed back Forza 3's release for that instead of the 360 and made it a launch title? scratchchin

Not sure about how good a controllerless console will be.

It's fine if you've got a room the size of the one in the debut video, but if - like a lot of people - you have your xbox in your bedroom, it's going to be too clumsy and pointless.

Very clever but it looks a bit complicated. I play on a mate's Wii occasionally and that interprets movements wrongly ( or I'm not doing them right) Either way i would rather have a button to press for serious games, or a steering wheel / pedals. How the hell did the stop and go work on that racing game in the vid?

It's not going to be a "new" console, it will be a 360 with some bits added (natal) and redisigned innards (hopefully with more reliability).

If it has other features like blu-ray and built in wi-fi it could be a very very smart move for MS, look what the ps2 slimline did for sony.

Also, It will NOT be controllerless (?) you will only have to use natal for natal titles (or a choice, like burnout from the articles). MS has released other statements saying that the controller will be just as important as it always was.

Regardless, my name will be down for one as soon as I can.

Aren't they just talking about netal in that link though? Which is a peripheral.

Since they said that it would work with any xbox 360 console, I doubt there will be a new one, just that netal thing will be released.

I don't know about you but I think that looks crap, what's wrong with using a controller, things like that are extremely limited in how you can implement them.

If whats seen is to be believed then it's far, far different from the wii.

More like the Eye Toy, but more sophisticated.

Quite difficult to implement force feedback on that driving game they were playing, I would have thought. The steering wheel looked a bit big too.

I'm sure Microsoft will take the time to build & test the system properly to make sure it works 100% before they release it. Just like they did with the 360... Oh, wait, hang on a minute... rolleyes
