Bought my first PS3 at the weekend. Its great and very happy with it. Especially the sound and picture quality of BR movies.

However have a few questions:

1. I was playing a non br film and the picture appeared to be shown through a letter box - very small and basically unwatchable. Now it had a 2.35:1 ratio but thought the PS3 might show it like a normal DVD player might - any ideas?

2. At the moment i have just watched a few films and played GT5 on it. Is it worth exploring the online store etc? All the downloads are taking ages so not sure if the wait is worth it.

3. On GT5 the screen is very very dark in places. So much so that its hard to see whats happening. Normal?

4. What happpens once you complete A, B and C events? Do more get released, and do more cars become available?

5. Is a steering wheel worth it? I just get the feeling the pad doesnt quite cut it when using GT5.

1) Check the settings on your telly, it may have defaulted into a crazy zoom mode.

2) There's some good stuff on the online store, definitely worth checking out. There are some great "mini" games (Wipeout HD, Super Stardust HD, Wolfenstein 3D smile) and some demos worth checking out too (Killzone 2, inFamous). There's lots more, but those are good for starters.

3) Screen shouldn't be dark on GT5, again, check your telly settings.

4) Once you've done C, B and A you unlock the S class races and the quick tune option. The Ferrari F1 car is also available to buy.

5) Wheels are a lot of fun with GT, not sure I've I'd spend 200+ on a G25, but some of the other Logitech models are good. I've got an old Formula Force which is great, cost me about 50 quid (albeit about 7 years ago).

I agree with the steering they work well on gt5, i have the Logitech G25 with a gameracer seat and frame like this : http://www.gameracer.co.uk/images/xl_GRPRO016.html

Hope this answers your question about a wheel.

5) It could be a setting on the PS3. I believe there is one called 'full RGB' or something similar. Some tellies support it and some don't. On the ones that don't it usually looks too dark so it sounds like this could be the issue. Try switching it off.

The best thing to spend your money on is probably Call of Duty 4, I bought it 2 years ago and have barely touched another game since. Apart from Prologue of course.

Thanks for all the responses.

Have played around with the TV and its slightly better. Presently trying to convince self that a 52inch LCD will make it better!!

Will look at a steering wheel for sure. Now on to S class events so thats good. Feels limited though!

I bought GTA4 COD4 and GTA5P and started on GTA4 last night. might be a while before COD4 gets a look in!

Get COD4 fired up and get online with us lot!

You won't play anything else for a while.
