Decisions decisions...

Currently discussing this one with my housemates and my girlfriend and we cant decide on which one to go with.

So as the topics says, Guitar Hero or Rock Band? We've got a PS3 and an Xbox so the second question is which platform?

Either way I've called dibs on the drums smile

Get both wink

GH is the more 'arcadey' and Rock Band is more 'serious'.

Personally, I prefer playing the guitar on GH and the drums on Rock Band. I can only do a few songs on drums with Rock Band before I am knackered hehe

I don't think there are any differences with regards to platform, so just see which has the best price. I saw the GH Band In A Box in HMV at the weekend on the 360 for £97, IIRC. Didn't see PS3 one, so can't compare on price, but probably the same.

IMO, GH's drums kick Rock Bands into next week wink

Another tip is to get RB2 and then rent RB1. Then you can copy RB1 songs to your hard drive and play the songs with RB2 in the drive wink You can even select which songs from RB1 you want to put into RB2. You may want to check this out, but I am pretty sure it's what I read (relating to the 360 that is). Not saying PS3 doesn't do it, I just have no idea ??

Having played both (guitars and *ahem* vocals.. not drums) I think GH is far better..... esp GH3.. though its guitars only for that one... I just think it has the best selection of songs.....esp with the downloadable content.
GH world tour is more like rock band but I still think it has a much better selection of songs and carreer mode although they have bought in the pointless slider bar thingy on the guitar which plays random notes whenever it feels like it.. but you can turn it off.

Rock band has a ridiculous career mode where you have to play every song a gazillion times which just gets tedious and you cant tell the different types of notes from each other which also gets tedious.

as for platform.... dont think it really matters... whichever you prefer I suppose or whichever is cheapest if there is a difference.

ETA... not played with the RB controllers.... though I am told that all GH controllers will work with both RB and GH but NOT vice versa. If that is the case then get the kit for GH.. you can always buy the RB game later (or rent it as above). Someone may be able to confirm that for me though.

RB drums only have 4 pads, you need 5 for GH:WT, so without actually knowing, I would say RB drums would be no good for GH:WT.

As for GH:WT being like RB, I would have to disagree with that one wink

I think the OP should try both, as RB and GH have split followings and some that like one will not like the other. I was in the GH camp myself until I got the drums, and now I enjoy both (although I will only play drums on RB).

£97 for the WT Band In A Box should not be sniffed at, especially as it includes the game as well. Drums are £80 alone when bought individually : http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/9467302/Guita... !!!

You will need an extra guitar for the full experience though as only comes with one. Ebay was my friend when it came to getting extras, think I got one for about £20 IIRC ?
