Racism alive and well on XBox Live? Or Innocent reason.
Discussion
I was playing online the other evening in COD4 WoW in team deathmatch when I noticed a team of 4-5 players with NWA in their gamers tags. I didn't take much notice until the whole team kept opting out of our matches at the same time, on mass, regardless of map.
Someone on my team explained the NWA and suggested it was because our team was perceived as a white team?
Now I'm not saying it is that but has anyone else had this?
I can accept some maps are less popular than others and they may have merely opted out of the the less popular ones and yes I know 'they' wouldn't know what ethnicity we were from our gamer tags but as they have taken the trouble to use the NWA identifier in their tags it crossed my mind that there might, just might, be more to their opting out than my naive gaming mind first thought?
Perhaps someone from a team of mates with NWA in their tags might like to comment and restore my faith in non prejudiced gaming.
P.S. Please don't flame me just because I dared to raise such a controversial question and No I am not Trolling either. I will be more than pleased to stand corrected and have my faith restored in the gaming community.

Since you don't even know for sure what 'NWA' means, it could be a coincidence or an ironic reference, I think you're totally wrong to jump to the racism conclusion.
I know what it has become commonly used for but didn't associate it with gamer's tags. As I said, if there are any gamers out there with the letters NWA in their tags, particularly gamer teams then please feel free to enlighten me of it's alternative palance.Edited by XMG5 on Monday 27th July 13:31
Could it not just have been like the Northeast Wargaming Association - http://www.nwa-wargaming.org/
There is also NorthWest Arkansas as well, simple google search.
Maybe they wanted a server to themselves without unknown players joining.

It certainly could be almost anything with the initials NWA - except in the case of those you've identified they're Warhammer gamers who meet up for their table top games. But There is also NorthWest Arkansas as well, simple google search.

Maybe it stands for Never Win Anything!!Edited by XMG5 on Monday 27th July 13:38

Back in my Quake 2 days there was a clan called HIV. Having the eponymous virus wasn't an entry requirement - it was merely a 'joke'.
