My son has a DS lite and a R4 card.

I'd like to copy some of his games from their single card to the R4 card.

Is this possible?

I think most people use torrents to download backup copies and then put them on the R4. I have not heard of a way to copy directly from your own DS cartridge. Not to say it's impossible, but I've not heard of it and it's certainly not what most R4 users do.

PS - Illegal stuff is illegal, so you can't talk about it on here.

So it's illegal for me to copy a game that I own to the r4 card?

I don't do torrents btw.

you are allowed to have a back up copy of ds games as long as you own the hard copy of the game.

theres cartridges on the internet that allow you to rip games onto your computer then you can update them onto an r4 card.

I think techincally. You don't OWN the game. In the same way CDs work... you have purchased the right to interact with that media through the item you purchased. I.e Just because you own Mariahs Greatet Hits 7... doesn't make it legal for you to listen to it on someone elses CD. So the same applies with Games. You own the ability to use that Cartridge, not the content. Techincally of course! But that is irrelevant, and I can't answer your question. Sorry.
so much wrong with this post.

So if he owns Mariahs Greatest Hits but listened to his mates copy of the CD you're saying that's illegal? So if he's round his mates, and his mate puts on said stty CD, the OP suddenly becomes a fking criminal? Is that what you're saying?

and as you say that logic applies to games, are you telling me if he was to play COD4 on his mates 360, as he hasn't paid to use that content, again, he's a fking criminal?

The back of DS games manuals state that you aren't authorised to make backup copies and, I quote, 'it isn't necessary to make a backup to protect your software'. It's nice that nintendo, EA, etc feel they can decide that everyone else in the world doesn't need to makeup a backup copy, of course, if your original breaks they won't be replacing it FOC so you'll have to buy another which suits them just fine.

OP; forget the legalities, if you own the game, just get the ROM off the internet. Not only is having an R4 more convenient than lugging carts around it, obviously, protects your originals from damage so in the scheme of things, who really cares?

To the OP, you say you dont do Torrents but please oh please dont go using Limewire instead. Just a piece of advice.
To be fair you will one of the very rare R4 owners if you say you will not dowload games.
