I am well in to Forza 2 but am thinking of getting a Steering wheel (mainly so I can run a manual gearbox set up)

any recomendations to which one to go for?

Cheers in advance

I use the official Microsoft one. It doesn't have manual gearbox, but does have flappy paddles. It is definately worth the premium over a 3rd party one as it offers force feedback. I believe there is a Porsche one out now, but it looks pretty poor, although I don't know how it performs. I wouldn't bother with anything without force feedback, they really aren't very good.

The mrs bought me the (semi) wireless microsoft on, its about £60 on game right now. No complaints from me and seemed to have good reviews elsewhere. Feed back is great (has both force feedback and "rumble"), you can feel when your getting over steer and under steer, when you hit gravel etc. You even get torque steer when driving fwd cars. You have paddle shifter that are good, and the foot pedals are a good size, wide apart (for people with big feet) and don't slip everywhere

This wheel was designed to work with forza 2 (practically the only game that is fully supported) and I guess the same for forza 3.

In all a great wheel

Really! I thought it looked pretty amazing, just bloody expensive!

Well Forza3 is out in 2 months with clutch action and vibrating brake pedal (a la ABS), so it might be worth looking for a wheel that is compatible with that.
You'd be surprised how desolate the Forza2 scene will be after that comes out.

Is that the Porsche wheel only then?

Not sure of any others that have that spec to work on the Xbox, unless we are waiting on an imminent release?

I have the MS one, its very, very good. Mine cost £30 from cash converters, could be worth a look. You might get lucky like I did!

It is missing its desk mounting bracket though...

I dont know which wheels Satan but on the official forums there is loads of talk about them as they are pretty serious about kit over there. I think I have heard the make Fantec mentioned.
Just make sure you research properly yourself before you buy.

So will the MS one work FULLY with FM3 then or not?

yeah it should do but there are features in FM3 that you will miss out on if you are into making full use of the realism (most wheel users?).

I will have a look at the site, but Fanatec make the Porsche wheel, just need to convince the wife. (Already have the MS wheel, but love the idea of clutch and force feed back through the brake!)

So is there a new official steering wheel coming out with the extra functionality? Or is there another manufacturer making one?

I've heard there is a Logitech G27(?) wheel coming soon, it would be great if that was Xbox compatible smile
