a ps2 style controler or steering wheel will do although a steering wheel is preferable as most the faster people seem to use them. im playing with a thrustmaster firestorm gamepad, which tbh is not ideal as it seems a bit big and its not as good to hold as a ps2 one. see the ps2 to pc thread as you might actually be able to use a ps2 controller with an adaptor, although im not sure if it would work on gpl
