New PS3 update (3.01)

I installed this the other week and it's been fine. I also like the 'twinkle' effects in the menu. However, this update seems to have removed the appearance of the Playstation logo when starting up a game from the main menu along with the little sound effect.

I know it's only minor, but is there any way I can get this feature back, but while keeping the update?

unless you can find an option somewhere in settings I expect its gone for good.

there aren't usually many opportunities to customise what consoles do...

Yeah, I doubt its coming back. Instead, you have a little PS3 thing when switching on the console instead. The sparkly bits are awesome though.

yep the PS3 logo is the new logo and you cant get rid of it.

Any idea if any of these updates sort out older game compatability? Got a copy of Final Fantasy VIII but it dosnt work
