Xbox 360 data transfer query

Chaps, I have an Oblivion saved game on an old 360 harddrive i'd like to move onto my new one so I can continue to play it. I don't want to start the game again, as this saved game contains over 100 hours of play and I only want to transfer this particular saved game, not the entire contents of the drive.

I'm assuming an Xbox 512mb memory card would be my best/only option, but I don't want to shell out £30 for one to use it once, do I have any other options?

Apply for a hard drive transfer cable from Microsoft UK, assuming your new hard disc didn't come with one(free - the form is somewhere on their web site) and transfer all your game data across. Make sure you migrate all your licences (on the UK XBox site as well) across too, so you can still use DLC when not online.

Once everything's across you can delete what you don't need. Failing that, a memory card is your only other option.

Nope, i've got a ton of stuff on the new drive, so the migrating kit isn't an option. I did try and get one initially but MS were ste. I'll try and find a cheap enough compatible memory card.

Pretty sure the only way you can get things between drives is to use the transfer kit. HD to MC to HD will not work.

I am not 100% on it, but pretty sure.

Got locked down years ago to stop people swapping/selling game saves for achievement points, IIRC ?

Maybe try putting your game save on a MC and have a go at that. Just tell the game to read from the MC. Might work that way ?

The memory cards are really useful. I use mine to hold my profile as well as a few game saves, then when I go over to a mate's to play Fifa, or Guitar Hero etc. I simply take the memory card and I get signed in to his machine with my profile.

Get down to your local independent game shop, they usually have 2nd hand ones, well the one in my town does anyway...

Bought a second hand 512mb memory unit, which works perfectly. However, after copying my profile onto it, swapping the hard drive to the one containing the Oblivion saved game and locating the saved game on the drive it disappeared along with all of the other saved games when I put my profile onto the drive. Now, all my old save games appear to have vanished. Any idea's on why this is?

Anyhow, bks.

I could see the saved game originally, without signing in, I then ported my profile to the machine and signed in but it wouldn't see the saved game. I took my profile back off of the machine and signed out but it still wouldn't see the saved game. It's as if it's just vanished.
