It all depends on the exclusive games. PS3 online is widely regarded as being inferior to XBOX live. I'd have thought any PS3 purchase based on online merits would leave you with a serious case of buyer's remorse.

I went from 360 to PS3 and to be honest I cannot see any difference at all between online services. Anyone who says different needs to provide examples because all I ever hear is that Live is better without any backup.

Maybe there is cross game invites and other small crap like that but the actual online gaming parts are the fking same. COD4 has the same lobbies, problems etc. I never have lag unless playing on shipment with loads of other people which I also got on the 360.

Why would it be a joke? I'm sure this has been done to death if that's wot u mean. So online is free then, mainly into sport and racing games so better graphics would be a bonus.

Yep, so far so good, on-line is free for the PS3.

You can also get wireless headsets and chat to people (I don't know if that's true of the X Box)..

Just thinking about this as well. I've got the PS3 and I was in Blockbuster earlier staring at the Xbox / Forza 3 combo pack. I'm torn. I want that game. ALOT!

So, I think it comes down to the games and not the console. That said, one big plus of the PS3 is the Blueray.

I think buy both. It's the only sensible option

Any game that is available on both system looks virtually identical. I speak for Call of Duty 4, Race driver Grid, Need for speed shift and Fight Night Round 3/4 all of which I own or have played demos on both PS3 and Xbox. Better graphics isn't really a reason to go for the PS3, there's still no difference in the majority of cases.
If you're massively into online gaming and don't mind paying £40 a year for it then IMO Live does have the edge over PSN. Things like game invites and parties work better, and the voice chat is much better, clearer and lag free.
Work out what games you really want, how many of your friends have either one and then the best deals you can get, that might help make up your mind.

Then never start another "PS3 Vs Xbox" thread again!
