Forza and BT Home hub

You lot who kept on playing forza 2 prolly have this resolved, but given some will be back to it with Forza 3, this may help:

If you have a home hub, you'll probably have experienced the annoyance of it resetting in multiplayer. Having had it happen 3 times in a trot when I was in the lead, I decided to google it. There are loads of threads on the BT forum eg

Seems like the solution was to have gotten on the ongoing trial of the new firmware that resolves the problem, but the firmware won't be released to all for a couple of months. Other than that, your only choice to to hook up a netgear router (I had a DG834GT in the garage). That works, but you need the following to complete the installation

username = [e-mail]
password (this it what foxed me) = bt

now forza works, but for the life of me, I can't get BT vision working via the netgear, and the hub phone is obviously out.

Terrible service from BT - apparently they've know about the issue with forza 2 for months. If anyone else has fixes, please share.

Ive been having the same problem - I havent been bothered to research about it lol , thanks for the info though. Hopefully they will release that firmware sooner rather than later :|

I'm using a Homehub2 and it seems fine on Forza 3 (xbox is plugged in with an ethernet cable).
However wireless uploads from my laptop to flickr and the likes virtually always time out after about 1mb of upload.

My firmware version is showing as

My homehub is nothing mroe than an ornament with flashing lights, barely copes with loading Google homepage on my laptop and XBL connection simply shows an error.

Yet the BT engineer said everything was working just fine....

After about a year of trying, I finally got a firmware update a few weeks back that allows my laptop (with Intel wireless chipset) to talk to the HomeHub.

BT denied this was an issue for yonks before finally sorting it.

I get a "kernel reset" (loud click, then restart) after a couple of laps of multiplayer on forza 3 - only forza affected apparently.

I have the same firmware as everyone else, and connected via ethernet. 8.1h.j is the one that fixes it, but we're too late to get on the trial and people on the BT beta board say it's not being released for a couple of months.

Does port forwarding fix this problem? I've been having it recently. Is there any known solution besides getting on that trial?

i had a close NAT for ages on my homehub. Tried everything. forwarding ports etc. Fixed it now, just had to set the router to use a static IP address!

My router has a static IP for the xbox, still doesn't bloody work!

Coincidentally I moved from BT to Virgin when FM3 came out as they were doing faster BB speeds in my area for less dosh.

static IP for the xbox doesn't fix it; not for me, or lots of people on the fm3 forum or bt.beta forum. There are reports that this works

Menu location: Settings | Advanced Settings | Application Sharing | Firewall

The Hub's firewall lets you select one of following security levels:

Disabled
This setting effectively removes the firewall protection in your Hub and allows all incoming and outgoing traffic. It doesn't affect access to the Hub Manager (as your Hub Manager can only be accessed from computers on your home network, not from the internet).

Just make sure your software firewall is running. I only have linux in my house, so don't mind giving it a go. Will try it later.

You sure? It works fine for me. Is it doing that loud click, then reset thing? If so, and it's definitely disabled, you are stuck with buying a new router.

BT are s. Go on the BT beta forum, maybe you can moan you way into getting the new firmware.

About time too... it's taken 6+ months to put right things that were broken by the last update!...
