Right ok, this is getting right on my oven mitts. I really want to get good with the Riot Shield for CTF but I'm tragic.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty good. Usually come top or near top - not amazing, it's only a public server but I'm definitely above average. However I can't get to grips with it.

So anyone who is good with it, please tell me your setup and tactics. I saw a guy use a shotty, he would crouch, throw a stun grendade and then pop people, but I die when throwing the nade.

Any ideas?

Dont die?
wink
Um no idea as i've only used it a couple of times.
I'd say put on lightweight and fast reloading etc so its that little bit quicker in changing between things?

Shouldn't you be thinking up more terrible over-used Stevie Wonder joke threads?

Anyway I've tried a number of setups, I just fail to see how it can actually be a decent point scoring choice in public servers. I'm always loitering around the middle. I couldn't care less about ratios, its all about score. In clan matches they obviously serve a very different purpose.

If you're on your onesies then better off without the shield i'd have thought.

But if you have a friend or just an attentive team-mate who can follow you around with a Rifle picking off people who flank you and sniping snipers who are ahead of you whilst you prove a distraction then you're on to a winner...

I'm decent with it.

Make sure you have the Marathon perk on so that you can run as much as you need.

Use a secondary weapon that is the quickest to draw, the AA-12 for instance takes to long to draw.

Learn how to tell when people are reloading, if you are moving at someone crouch down while they are shooting, then as the reload quickly sprint at them or if close enough swap to your secondary weapon for the kill.

Also Cammando perk is useful as it extends the range of the sheild attack and Stopping Power increases it's damage. Lastly Lightweight can be useful.

Remember when you have the sheild you stand out like a sore thumb so hiding isn't really as effective.....

It's useful for the capture and hold game types, but you're going to get flanked in a straight-up fight. The other option is to bring backup and get them to stay behind you, most of the time you'll draw the fire long enough for them to get a few shots off.

Not sure what you mean about it all being about the score, in Team Deathmatch if you're scoring 20+ kills that's great, but if you're also getting killed 20 times then you're not much of an asset to the team, you may as well just be hiding in a corner doing nothing.

Yeah I've been doing alot of what has been said. I never play it solo or in TDM. I've seen a few people get really high scores with a shield and I'm very competitive and don't like being bettered!

What is the fastest secondary weapon to draw, anyone know? I'm level 40.

One of the pistols, the bigger the gun, the slower it will be to draw.

Ok apologies. Fancied a bit of fistycuffs rage

I only ever look at ratio in TDM. Dom/SD/HQ/CTF is all about score! I'd rather be on 20-10 and top on points thanks to the number of flag returns / captures etc than 20-0 by sitting in mid like a spare prick at a party (not saying you do that)!

I love the Magnum but I don't feel it goes that well with shield. Machine pistol + RDS might work. I'll keep having a play.

Only problem with MW2 is that it dosent break down the game types therefore KDR is for all game types. Score normally reflects time spent on it etc so Ill always go on KDR but thats just me wink......punch

I see where you're coming from. I mean if you get AC130 + Pavvy you will destroy the boards on and open map and get a good score anyway.

I think I'm in a bit of a strange frame of mind with COD. I look at it a bit like (god I hope I never get quoted on this) WoW in terms of class setups and game objectives like Domintation etc.

I've seen a few people use the shield, I've killed all of them..... Even one I managed to knife as he went for his gun..... I don't think it's much cop at all unless, as already said, you are working as a team of 3-4 people will two shields and two flanking to provide cover. But then, I've also just put 2-3 AA12 shotgun rounds straight into a shield and killed the bloke..

You can use it to get huge scores on Headquarters, Domination and Sabotage by being the one getting all of the captures, bomb plants and other objectives.

If you have marathon perk on you can just sprint round the map capturing abjectives.

Last night played a whole team using shields on airport.... OMG they really got on my teams tats.... not mine tho. You would have 2-3-4 coming at you hiding behind the shield a swift nade or claymore more then sees to them. It enabled me to get a 27 streak so was pleased bit pee'd off tho as wouldnt have died if it wasnt for a guy being spawned behind me!

A friend and I were playing last night on Mosh Pit to get a bit of variation. Destroying each game together and getting a bit arrogant and cocky we decided to try the shield and no matter what we did we couldn't match the points we were getting sniping/assault rifle. I think I'll just leave it for other people to master and keep flash nadeing them!
