GTA4 Liberty City Stories

I'm finally about to have a console with which I can play GTA4 (I've waited for this moment since I first heard they were making the game). Is Liberty City an add-on to GTA4 (so I'd need both), or is it not worth bothering with GTA4 altogether as Liberty City is better and just as big (hypothetically)? I am a bit confused reading up on these two...
Think you mean Liberty City Episodes - the box set of ' The Lost and the Damned' and 'The Ballad of Gay Tony'? If so, well worth it, especially for the latter.
I'd still say it's worth playing through the original GTA4, for all quite a few people commented on the character being less engaging than San Andreas and Vice City, but I thought it was great with a decent plot and plenty to do. Must confess to thinking the ballad of gay tony being my preferred one though.
If you buy it on Xbox live marketplace I think you need the original GTA4 disk, but the off-the-shelf version from stores is standalone as I understand it.

king excellent. Lots going on, almost makes me think this should have been the basis for the main game rather than a DLC...I bought this from play last week for £17.99
not bothered about the biker one but ballad of gay tony is better than the original game. so much more light hearted/fun with some very good new cars and weapons. you play a much cooler lead character and most important change for me is that there are now checkpoints mid mission.
One of the main gripes i had with the original was the fact you could do a mission (pick someone up rob a bank, run through the street killing police then die at the last bit) and if you failed have to start right at the begining again. This time it save checkpoints mid mission so you can just go straight back in to the meat of the mission.
