MW2. I'm not very good!

I've managed to complete Campaign mode on the easiest level, albeit dying several times throughout. I've improved slowly, and have started on Special Ops mode but finding it difficult. I don't think I'm very good at it at all and althought I've played COD games before, this is the first I've actually owned.

Can anyone offer any basic hints and tips to help me get better?

Practise, practise, practise.

I've embarassed myself on line for the last 8 weeks or so, and refuse to play against either of my boys who can both woop my @rse.

But with the snow last week and the "working from home" for 3 solid days... I'm now finding myself having some on line games where I'm NOT the one at the bottom of the table with 2 kills and 12 deaths anymore. :-)

I've even come out on top a couple of times!

On multiplayer - be patient and take your time moving around. A good 50% of the time when I am killed it is because I have got bored and lazy and just ran somewhere without looking properly.

Nope - I think low 40's is the best I've managed.

I'm about to switch one of my online builds to a rusher (marathon, lightweight, ninja with a SMG) and try the "running around like a loon" style of play.

20 odd seconds is doable. Take two pistols and make every shot count, go for two targets with one shot where possible, the accuracy bonuses will knock quite a bit off your time.

I’m rubbish at it as well, especially mulit-player online (Xbox). I tried multi-player online once but I gave up after 10 minutes. I’m only a casual player so don’t really want to spend hours on it.

Single player campaign is fun, but for special op, you really should try the two-player mode. It’s so much easier and huge fun.

I’m rubbish but still have managed to get 47 stars (out of 65 I think).

That was my technique for the first stealth mission on Special Ops, those bd dogs can run fast!

Its just practice...i play at weekends for fun and am always in the bottom 2 or 3 on live. My 9 year old plays nonstop and is always in the top 2 or 3. I have played him on system link but its rubbish....i cant beat him (in fact, i cant kill him.....he promised to only use his pistol and still beat me 15 deaths to 2.....5 of those were knives!)

So play lots...get better (or get grounded if you're 9 and your dads jealous)

I know the feeling. I got 46 seconds a dozen times then managed a 45.3 seconds. Good job there were no women or children present!

Are you talking about the Spec-Ops Pit or the single-player one?

If it's the spec-ops then simply do it with 2 people and divide up the targets. Spec-ops is really designed for 2 people and attempting it solo is tough.

Everyone has said it before, but it's just practice. A lot of the knowledge comes from the knowing the levels and that only comes with time. You'll start realising where enemies are going to be hiding, where they can flank you, the quickest routes to the flag etc...

My personal time for the pit on SP is 34secs or so, in 2 player - 26 i think. Still 4 seconds off the IW time!!!

Tried this with the OH who is useless. She gets 2 or 3 kills at best and one of those is the knife attack at the top of the stairs!

That's exactly how she is. Won't take constructive critiscm either!

One thing that has helped me a great deal is turning the sensitivity up. Start at 5. Then move up to 7 -9 - then finally 10.

Try 10 first if you fancy it but it is so much faster it might make you feel sick

So much easier to turn and aim quickly

Not a bad idea at all, now I'm getting used to the control system I will try making it more sensitive.
