OK, this may sound a little noobish and I apologise...

Anyway, I've started playing MW2 online a fair bit with a group of mates (we pretty much resurrected our Unreal Tournament clan from last century), we always join a party, then join TDM or Ground War. However despite the fact we're partied and have the same clan tag, 50% of the time at least, one of us ends up on the other team.

Now call me crazy, but I'd assumed with the parties it would put you on the same team if it could, or at least if you had the same clan tag. From asking other players in the games, nobody is partied OR in the same clans usually apart from the four of us - so it's not like it couldn't balance it. It does it properly in Halo 3, is this just how MW2 works? Is there certain game modes that would work in a more logical way?

If you make sure that your entire party is together when you try to join a game, then it should put you on the same team. If people join your party once you are in a lobby then it doesn't count that as a party and will just divide up the teams itself. The clan tags mean nothing when its selecting teams, they are just so other gamers know you are together.

Once you are a party it should not split you up. Once your party size is greater than 6 it does not allow you to do anything but groud war so that the party stays together. Out of interest how big was your party?

It is a bit wierd how that happens. But are you inviting each other? or are they "joining your session"?

If inviting it USUALLY works,But sometimes if I join a friends game it throws me on any team, usually the opposite one.

Hmmm, interesting, so I'm being a tard then. I think I was joining sessions, and after we were already in the lobby too.

I shall endeavour to test this further tonight (or tomorrow). Thanks guys, you all rock smile

(Also, there were 4 of us)

You aren't being a tard, I have seen it a few times, it's just good old lag when the game is trying to start and sort the teams as far as I am aware frown

Invite them all to a party before you join a game, and make sure you don't have more than half of the total capacity of the game.

You'll never get put on the other team if you were all in a party before you searched for a game, sometimes it chucks members of the party into entirely different lobbies but you won't ever get put on the opposing team in the same lobby.

Sounds like your 'Joining session'

I think I was inviting people after I'd joined a lobby whilst there was still spare capacity. Don't think I'll get a chance to try tonight but I'll give it a crack tomorrow.

Yep, once you get 6 people in your party, then it's ground war time...

PLUS it does just seem to have people "drop out" now and again when you are in a party and then try and join a match..
