Uncharted 2 - online multiplayer

To all players of Uncharted Deathmatch - is there a reason (aside from me being a bit rubbish) that when I nail someone with an AK47 it seems to take forever for them to die, but when I get shot at it, it seems to take a second before I have to respawn again?
Seems suprisingly unfair and the only downside to a pretty decent multiplayer affair....
P.S. I am ok at MW2 in which kills seem a little fairer.

Aim for their heads...even when hitting their chests it basically takes a full clip.Seems suprisingly unfair and the only downside to a pretty decent multiplayer affair....
