Xbox 360 HD question

I need to upgrade my HD drive which is only 20gb. I reckon a 60gb one will be enough, I dont fancy paying £100 for the 120gb one!
If I want to transfer my game saves/addons etc... do I need a data transfer cable as well or can I use the recover gamertag thingy and go from there?
Seems a rip off if I do have to buy one as presumably its the sort of thing youll only use once!
Also can you reccomend the best places to buy such things without paying high street prices?

In answer to the original question - it depends whether you're part way through a game or not. If you're not, and you're not intending to revisit those games you have played, don't bother. Achievements and gamerscore are all held remotely.
It's only savegames that are on the HDD (as well as any games you might have installed or songs/movies you've downloaded through XBL)

The transfer cable (and associated disc) is only available nowadays direct from Microsoft customer support - you have to call them and order.Seems a rip off if I do have to buy one as presumably its the sort of thing youll only use once!

The alternative is to use an Xbox memory card. You can pick them up second hand in game shops for about a tenner. You can copy your saved games on to that before swapping your hard drive and copy them back across to the new HD. Your profiles and purchased/downloaded games etc can all be downloaded again onto your new HD, so it’s only saved games you need to worry about.

Was in Aberdeen at the weekend and looked through all the Game shops and nothing, not even a dickie bird!!

k would the OP have put your first post together to come up with ^^ that?!I for instance didn't realise you could do that...
Anyone changing their whole console (ie. upgrading to an Elite instead of buying a new HD) also needs to jump through one more hoop … head to the Xbox UK website and search for their "License Transfer Tool", which transfers ownership of all your downloaded/purchased stuff from one console to another.
Ok, here's an idea (Dont laugh!)
If get a 60gb HD and keep my 20gb one with, say Forza installed plus the DLC and saved game, can I just plug in the 20gb one when I want to play Forza and retrieve my gamertag, then swap back to the 60 gb one when I want to play something else?
I know it's a faff but if that works, it saves me having to buy the data transfer kit/memory card and I could still make use of the HD rather than having to sell it for peanuts!
I really cant be arsed buying a new console as Im skint and have to save for Le Mans!!

Went in to Gamestation on the off chance that they had some used hard drives and I picked up a 120gb one for £50! One year guarantee as well!!
I've now installed various games to the HD and the only saved game I was worried about (forza) is still on the 20gb drive. Not a bad day's shopping!!
