GT5 Delay Painful For Sony Too
We are all getting fed up waiting for the ever-slipping GT5 and Sony are feeling the financial pain of Kaz’s failure to reach a point where he is satisfied with the game. They were asked about how their Q4 software forecast met with internal targets they had previously set. The answer went like this
In fourth quarter we are seeing an underachievement of the target by ¥20b. One reason is the delay in the launch of Gran Turismo [5]. We were originally scheduled to launch Gran Turismo [5] this year but it looks more likely that it will be after 2010 so that’ll be a significant factor.
Wonder if Kaz was listening in to the call. Yes, they did say “after 2010″. Whether that was a slight mistranslation by the translator and Sony simply meant in 2010 or after the start of 2010 I have no idea. I listened to that part of the call several times to try and determine which was meant and it was not clear. If, and it is a big if, Sony really did mean “after 2010″ then given the context that would mean after their 2010 financial year which ends in March 2011. A delay that long does not bear thinking about for us race fans or Sony.

I bought a PS3 in November '08 in anticipation for the "imminent" release of GT5 - I cannot believe that we are still waiting for it now.
I am almost at the point now where I am willing to chop it in and get an X360 and Forza 3...
Don't do it.I am almost at the point now where I am willing to chop it in and get an X360 and Forza 3...
...buy a 360 and Forza 2 instead.

not again vcant we just have a sticky GT5 thread to post all peoples info etc, do mods ever read this section
I don't think 1000 of pages on a GT5 sticky would help. I bought the PS3 when it first came out, hoping for GT5 soon. how manys years has that been,
as above, buy a 360 and play and enjoy that until it comes out
past caring tbh now. and im not believing anything said unless its proper official release date news from sony or polyphony.
but i must say these people buying consoles for one game is totally stupid imo. are you only ever going to play that one game? id much rather go for a console with a better overall catalogue

Gran Turismo 4 was launched in December 2004/early 2005.
Since then I have had Forza , Forza 2 and Forza 3. Not only do I prefer the cars handling in it and the engine noises but there have been 3 games.
Im waiting for GT5 to be released to buy a PS3 but if I am waiting that long Ill probably not even bother.

It might not be as bad as this thread would have us believe. I just found this.

Did you buy a PS3 only for GT5? If you didn't, then play the other games you wanted and stop moaning. If you did buy a PS3 in 2008 for GT5 only, then you are a colossal idiot.

Although I think people were silly to buy PS3's years ago for it, I do think that something serious must be wrong with the game for Sony/PD to be contemplating 2011. That would make it a full 18 months after Yamauchi said that they could "release the game at any time". Either that was a load of rubbish, or there are some huge issues, 18 months is a lifetime in video game terms.

The article is talking about financial years, not calender years. They are saying it won't be out in Q4 2010 which, given that they are discussing the recently released Q3 2010 results, will be the result of them no longer launching in March in 2010. People are getting ahead of themselves by talking about 2011 releases. Hang fire until they make an actual announcement of a release date.Norbury90 said:

I don't think that this is such an idiotic idea seeing as the only game I ever ended up playing on my PS2 before it bit the dust was GT4...
