MW2, whats happens when you Prestige?
Discussion
Hi guys, you'll have to excuse my ignorance..
I'm new (ish) to MW2, up till now I've only ever played driving sims.
I've recently got into MW2, great fun, get totally pissed off with the glitches & boosters though, but reading the posts on here at least I'm not the only one!
I'm on level 67 at the moment about to go onto 68. What happens if I Prestige at 70, I know I'll lose my guns & perks so is it worth it? Do you do the same challenges with the guns etc?
Thanks very much, Grant

You go back to level 1 just as you are when you start the game, so have to do all the challenges again to unlock weapons and perks. But you unlock extra 'Veteran' challenges which can give you other callsigns etc.
I'm glad I did it, keeps the game interesting.

Does using the default classes count towards your achievements etc..??
Yeah, and you get an extra Custom Class each time you prestige. lawrence567 said:

Yeah, and you get an extra Custom Class each time you prestige. My advice would be: if you're going to prestige then do it immediately. Else any additional XP you earn is essentially 'wasted' as it goes to your global total XP score and that's about it. One exception would be if you're close to unlocking a title or emblem you want, then do that before prestiging else your progress towards this will be lost.
Also, take a piece of paper and write down your favourite classes, so by the time you unlock everything again you know how you like it setup again.

I actually would reccomend NOT writing them down. I've changed my weapon preferences at each prestige and it's loads more fun!
^^ Yup. I'm on third time round now and i've used different guns/set ups entirely every time. This time i've used Riot shield and snipers, both of which i'd never used in this game.Although I used to love snipers in cod4 so it is coming back slowly.
I know what you mean - the best loadout will depend on your playstyle and will evolve. So if you play differently now, your old favourite may not be the best.
I've been experimenting with differnt guns, trying to maximise the XP earned by doing the easy challenges on all guns. However this can be frustrating almost as often as it is rewarding. So to finish off an evening I must admit I do like to have one or two games on my 'go to' loadout - the one where I consistently get at least 2 or 3 to one K
ratios. Nice to finish on a 'good game'. :-)
