Fairly simple issue; have done a search and not found an answer.

Friend is coming over from USA soon and has offered to bring me a Wii, (as they are cheaper there etc). Another friend says that although it will probably work O.K. with whatever game(s) it comes with, (assumes it's multi-volt compatible ?), it may not handle any Euro-sorced games. Worst case it may not even work on our TV. Reason being that he thinks the USA versions are NTSC and EU versions are PAL. He admits to be unsure about this but it gives me cause for concern.

Anyone out there have definitive answers, please ?

It'll be expecting 110v 60hz rather than 240v so you'll need a step down transformer or new PSU brick (guessing).

It'll possibly only put out NTSC but most UK TV's wil cope with that.

Paul, Many thanks for the rapid response, greatly appreciated.

"Cheap" as in gift.

However, it looks like potential longer-term hassle so I'll say thanks but no thanks. Wonder if he'll bring me a Corvette instead ? confused

Ah. My expectation was that it would be an auto-transformer type power unit and handle inputs from 110-240v but my expectations are seldom met. I thought the norm, these days, was to supply just one universal power unit to keep costs down and logistics simple. Maybe not ? Hmmmm.

Quick google sugests its a 110-240v PSU.

So thats OK , your TV will prolly do fine with NTSC, will need an adapter/scart cable thing.

But it wont play UK bought PAL games I dont think.

Many thanks. The PAL games thing was one of the major concerns and, on balance, it's looking to be a good idea that's not worth the (potential) hassle.

Thanks to all concerned.
