I wonder if anyone can help or has had similar problems. My Fat PS3 has developed a serious problem. I can get the thing started and play CDs and Bluray dics without a problem. However when I try and play any game I get someway into it and the whole thing freezes up. I spoke with Sony who suggested backing up all the pics and additional info and then starting from scratch after a full restore. I did this but it has made no difference. I then spoke to Sony again who offered me a replacement refurbished Fat PS3 at an additional cost of £130. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Try taking out a warrenty plan. I got 1 with domestic an genral cost me 4.99 a month. I got the yellow light of death so i claimed under warrenty. So rather than pay 130 i paid 4.99 and got a new station out of it

Did you just take out the policy and then claim or did you have it running for a while?

So i went to domestic and generals internet page a took out a polocy with them, waited a week the claimed cost me a 5er still got the polocy running just incase it brakes again but u could cancel it after u get ur new ps3, it took about a week for them to come collect an drop the new ps3 off.

Which game is it that freezes? Are all games doing it, or is it just one specific one? The reason I ask is that Heavy Rain has been reported as causing freezing problems, so it could be game specific rather than a system problem.

yep that was down to the trophies being unable to be updated happened to me on bioshock. That is fixed now so I doubt it is a problem With the wider PSN sounds like and issue with the unit. Does it stop in the same place in the game?

It happens on all games. Looks like the insurance policy is the prefered route!!

I just went to there web site an filled in the online form. They ask for the serial number on the back of the ps3 and ur bank card details for the direct debit, a few days after u get ur polocy certificte and thats pritty much it mate. I will have a dig arond at home later and find the phone number for you, O the whole ps3 is covered not just the blu ray, as they just replace ur old unit for a new 1
