Is anyone else having issues with the sound on PS3 BC2, specifically when using optical into an AMP ?

I get a drop out every 30-40 seconds or so no matter which "sound mode" I choose from TV - War Tapes.

Googling throws up a couple of people having issues but one reports a change of disk resolved this so was wondering if anyone else having it, if so its back to Asda for me frown

I've had sound issues (drop outs) for a long time with the PS3 using optical.
I eventually solved the problem by finding a TOS link lead that actually fits the PS3 socket correctly! You may think the lead is in OK but it needs quite a bit of force for it to 'click' in securely. Some leads are better than others for this.
I've had no issues with BC2 sound wise.

Tried a couple of leads and same results .. only seems to happen on BC2 not on MW2 or others. Ho hum will try a disk swap if not then see what else I can dig up.

No problems here but I use HDMI to connect to the amp. I forgot about war tapes mode, I'll have to give that a go.

Try HDMI if possible, mine works fine through that.

Have you got a sony amp?

There is a known bug in the str-de985 which cause dropouts with Dolby via the optical connection.

Since it shows the logo on startup maybe it does its own encoding and that is incompatible with your amp maybe? Does it work ok over HDMI?

Dont have HDMI on this amp unfortunatly hence optical.

One thing I have noticed is that it used DD here MW2 and other seem to auto select DTS ... or so the amp says. Might try disabling DD on the PS3 and see if this helps by forcing it into DTS.

Hmm seems to be quite common on surround via optical ... amongst others ...

I get some strange noises sometimes, and just white noise. But that is through HDMI on the PS3. I also sometimes get what sounds like a Fighter Pilot talking to ground control....

Well I am borrowing another AMP see if that helps. Will let you know.

Anyone know if a Denon AVR-1706 is worth 60 sheets in the present market ?
