MW2 got tougher?!

I love playing it, but I'm not all that good at it (Level 65 atm). I've got the new map packs, but since I got them, I always seem to get matched with people who've prestiged numerous times over etc, no-one who is a lower level than me seems to appear in my games?

Don't get me wrong, I don't want totally easy games, but it's nice to not be bottom of the pile again in every game - anyone know if there's been a conscious change in the way players are matched?

Not sure, But playing against much better players all the time will most certainly better you as a player in the long run if you stick at it.

We've all been there & most still are . I'd advise you to just check out lots of vids on YouTube. Search for things like How To Get A Nuke, Sniping Montage, MW2 Kill Streaks etc to see how the "pro's" do it.

I think that it might be that the matchmaking has been tweaked to throw the people with the map packs into the same lobby, so you have the option of the new maps.

By definition the people who have bought the maps (and therefore end up in your lobby) are people into the game enough to spend another £15 on an enhancement.

i.e. good players are dedicated. dedicated people buy the maps. people with the maps get in same lobby. therefore you are in a lobby with good players.

A common misconception in Call of Duty multiplayer is that prestige/ranking directly relates to how good someone is at the game. It's not. It's purely a measure of how much time someone has invested in the game. Logically this should make them better at it but you'll actually find a lot of people on their 5th prestige or whatever are still terrible at the game. Also remember each time you prestige you lose all your unlocked weapons and for the first few ranks you only have a couple of classes, which aren't great.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'd be far more concerned about running into an opposing team made up of a party who knows how to play well together. Chances are you'll get destroyed if your team aren't communicating and the other team is.

I did notice after the new maps were released that there seemed to be a higher standard of play - I think there was a problem with the matchmaking , so it could be that players were not being paired according to their skill (which is how it normally works AFAIK).

Would it not be more logical to surmise that the more hardcore players are the ones likely to fork out immediately for these maps, and the casual players would be happy with what they've got, or waiting for them to drop in price.

Therefore you've got a greater chance of being paired up with players of higher skill whilst playing these maps.
