That's a given - MW2 has so far grossed over a billion dollars in sales - but the issue is who will develop it? As I understand it, Zampella and West, the booted Infinity Ward bosses, have claimed in the proceedings that they have issued against Activision to be entitled to the rights to the CoD and MW franchises for any game post Vietnam era.
In the meantime, Treyarch is developing CoD7, which I gather is tentatively titled Special Ops, or something similar, and supposedly has a series of special forces type missions set in various periods between the end of WW2 and recent history (including, if rumours are to be believed, an SAS Iranian embassy siege level).
Zampella and West have now set up their own studio (called Respawn, I think) but since they don't have any rights to the CoD brand as things stand they are going to have to start from scratch.
And Activision say that they have recently acquired a third studio in or around San Fransisco which is working on a new CoD product to take the franchise "in a completely new direction".
Interesting times!
No doubt Activison will milk COD to extinction now, just like every other franchise they own 
IW looks to be a shell of it's former self already, with at last count 13 of the lead/ senior staff having followed West and Zampella out the door. Although there has been no word as to where they'll end up.
