xbox lag issues please help

After suffering last Sunday on the last but 2 lap on the Sunday champ and the two hour enduro race, 4 mins to go.

I now lag out after only 13 laps this week.

I have a newish xbox after last one rrod, a cable connection rather than wi fi, I turned off the lap top, the wi, even the V box and still it happens. I had re started the router and the internet box thing from virgin.

I can spend ages on line with no issues, but as soon as I settle down for a fun race with fellow PHers I lag out.

What else can I do to fix this, in over 3 years on online play with the same kit, no issues, but now its really pissing me off

Maybe it's the internet provider?

I'm with sky and up until now (touch wood) I've not lagged out of a race or a match in COD.
The sky box does switch to standby after 3 hours though, which changes the TV channel from HDMI to Scart if i'm on the Xbox . It did this shortly after you left tonight's race

Same never had a problem with Sky

It could be someone's internet you disagree with, had this problem with my DTM championship some peeps just couldn't be in the same lobby.

This. Virgin and gaming just doesn't work. My mate changed to Virgin and he has had constant problems. I was with BT, but tempted over to Talk Talk (apprehensive at first) but service has been first rate so far. All for considerably less cash too.

Virgin and Gaming do not work ? I've always been with Virgin and have 5 years Xbox Live and PC gaming under my belt with no issues........touch wood

Had some issues with a couple of games, but turned out to be my router.

Been with virgin for about 6 years, never had a problem with lag on xbox, ps3 or pc online play..

What speed connection are you on? What modem/router combination have you?

Run tests on both www.speedtest.bbmax and www.speedtest.net and post back results..

Have you tried giving your Xbox a static IP address and putting it in a DMZ?

I would second the DMZ idea, that's what I did for mine to sort some issues.
