Apparently xbox has something to announce at E3 on the 14/06/10, some say a new xbox model or just a xbox plus project natal and therfore probabably price restructuring.

I've got a xbox360 arcade + fifa 2010 for £129 on a collect order with Argos stores which expires on the 15/06/10 its a present for a nephew, may hold out until the 14th but don't want to miss the argos offer.

What say soothsayers!

Stick with what you have ordered, especially as no-one seems aware of what xbox are announcing so I doubt there'll be many games coming with it if it's coming out soon.

Also you can wait for the price to inevitably drop towards christmas then wink

Also word on the street is that they will be releasing a 'slim' version of the 360 with built in wireless connections and 250gb hard drive.

Yep, what was codenamed Project Natal is now officially named Kinect For Xbox 360 and slated for a November launch in the UK.

Kinect is a mega high-tech motion sensor system that plugs into your Xbox 360 and sits near your telly. It lets you control the Xbox without any sort of controller. Like a Wii without the handset. You just wave your hands/fingers/body about to control things. Supposedly sensitive enough to track finger movements, not just wide flailing … so for a driving game you hold your arms out and play with an imaginary steering wheel, for example.

Kinect will be available as an add-on to existing Xboxes, so don’t let it influence buying decisions right now.

The games demoed at last night’s press conference look pretty simplistic, and very Wii-like. Hopefully Kinect functionality will be easy to add to any and all forthcoming games though.

The remaining unconfirmed rumour is about a smaller, cooler running Xbox 360 console. Same system in a smaller, cheaper case. An Italian website has posted some pictures but nothing’s confirmed by Microsoft yet.

As exciting as this is for gimmick fans, it's all a bit toss. Ever held your arms out in front of you for any length of time? They start to hurt and ache.

I hate all these wky dance games, stupid Wii games etc. I'll get more fun out of playing a fighting game with a controller, than standing there looking like a complete helmet, flailing my arms around for 10 minutes (after which, I would have probably gotten bored)

Give me a normal controller any day of the week.

You’re right that most games are going to work best with a regular controller, but driving games are always going to work better with a big solid steering wheel and some other types of game are going to be ace with arm wavy magical things.

I quite like the idea of being to control the Xbox dashboard Minority Report style, regardless of actual games. Log in just by walking into the room because it recognises your face, scroll through the menus by flicking a hand left or right, pause a film by holding your hand up in a ‘stop’ signal, and so on.

I think the motion sensor thing could really work if it was used as an add-on to traditional controls and not instead of them. Imagine playing a shooter using your joypad as you would now, and instead of having to remember which shoulder button throws a grenade you could just let go with one hand and mime chucking one at the screen. That’d work for me. Or playing a driving game with your force-feedback steering wheel, you could just reach out and change gear in thin air, then grab the wheel with both hands again for the next corner. That would be ace.

Probably just wishful thinking though, and not gimmicky enough for game designers to actually try …

The launch titles Microsoft showed last night are pretty woeful, sadly. all just Wii ripoffs with better graphics. Bowling, fitness, etc. Dull, but safe sellers I guess.

Definately out in the UK in mid-July? Is that confirmed? If so I might cancel my replacement console order!

I want this!

The new version of the X-Box has 3 rear USB ports as well as a specific Kinetic port.

No doubt the Kinetic will have to come with a USB adaptor then.

Dont all rush out and buy it at once guys, save some for the rest of us! hehe

The special Kinect port on the new design Xbox supplies power as well as data. On a standard console you connect it via USB and need to use a power adapter (and thus plug socket) as well.
