Are xbox discs getting worse?

Noticed recently scratches appearing in a lot of my games after they have been in the xbox, but dvds dont get scratched, got a crack in my guitar hero disc and heard of other peoples discs cracking anyone else had this problem??

my first 360 tottaly destroyed my gears of war disk for no reason. Game wanted nothing to do with it nor MS. So got shot of the bloody thing

My old xbox destroyed my (bundle copy - only excuse for having that game - although i got no excuse for trying to play it) viva pinata, i never even got to play it as soon as i turned it on xbox made a funny noise, and put a fully round huge gaping scratch in it.

If you move your xbox when its on, it will leave a scratch all around the disk.

Never had an issue apart from once when I moved it while the disk was spinning. Doh!

It might be the cases. I had MW2 crack because of the design of the release button in the case. Not good when you change games often.

My MW2 has done this as well, its completely unplayable now and I cant even install it to the hard drive.


I've gind of given up on my xbox since it happened.

Yep made that mistake, rubbish design flaw in my eyes. My PC or lap top or PS3 or Wii dont do it so why should the 360

I never move my console at all but its been through 4 copies of forza now!

I deliberaetly snap quite a lot of the case buttons to avoid this, and enable the littel Piers to get games without using a somehthing like a fork to lever them out of the case - true.

My 360 did this to my RDR disk. Tried ye olde toothpaste trick - surprise surprise, it worked!

Scratched my Forza 3 too. A scary session with a CD cleaner later and it's saved to the HD now...
