E74 xbox failure
Discussion
You people must love to burn money.. £80? cheaper to sell as dead and buy a new one??
how about £5?
This is the kit I used - expensive for 8 bolts, 24 washers and a bit of thermal paste, but the instructions are good and if you struggle the guy provides good advice.

Couple of months ago I was in the exact same situation as the OP and did what shouldbeworking said above. Taking the console apart was easy enough, as was cleaning off the old paste and applying the new stuff. My xbox worked again afterwards, but only for about 30 minutes before RROD'ing on me from which there was no return. Ended up paying a friend £40 for his 4 year old xbox and gave him my one to shift on ebay as RROD'd.how about £5?

I wish someone told me my e74 fix would have been free i bought a new xbox haha, just put my old one in for repair so will have 2 xboxs now, if they send back old comsole ill be able to use my old gamertag again too, which has all my DL data on.
You can recover your GT to any console and your HD contains your DL data

They will not send you your xbox back. It will be a different one.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
