Wii does it play DVDs

Just wondeing DVD player is dead and I have a wii. Would the Wii play DVDs/

It's capable of playing DVD's, Nintendo turned of the functionality to keep the price of the Wii down (Think there is a license cost iirc).

The Wii needs to be 'modified' in order to play them, I suggest you Google
