What is the scariest thing you have heard in a computer game?

For me it was,

BANG BANG BANG BANG CLICK on any shooter, until

F1 2010, 209MPH, back straight at shanghai.

The constant crying of the child in the hallucinogenic bit of Max Payne. I remember you have to walk along a red line of blood and the crying (of your murdered daughter) fades in and out... It's making the hairs stand up on my neck just thinking about it.

Remember watching a friend play that game, has been etched into my memory the exact sound and image as above.

I remember having to turn off Silent Hill when I was younger because the noises were scaring me too much! Always get edgy when the music comes on on Tomb Raider games, you never know when somethings gonna jump out at you.

The moan of an imp in doom, I first played it at 3am with headphones and all the lights off as I was having a bout of insomnia.

When I heard it moan I was frantically looking around but couldn't find it, the moan was getting louder and louder and suddenly I turned to have it smack bang in my face.

I screamed so loud I woke my ex wife up who was slightly mental and the reason I had headphones on.

She screamed at me louder than the imp for being out of bed

The 'Hunter' zombies on Left 4 Dead / L4D2. Sitting in the dark with noise cancelling headphones on playing that with the volume up has given me a couple of 'Jesus' moments

Fear had some good ones too!

Yeah, I remember this, so dark, just the bleeping.

But the only game I actually turned off was Clive Barker's Undying.
