I need a good game to download

So I'm hoping you guys might have some suggestions for a good game to download. Ideally from steam as it's just easier.

I've just finished medal of honour and fancy something else to whet the appetite now. I did download metro2033 but it screwed up my pc.

Any suggestions then? Genre is unimportant. I'll play anything...within reason that is.

Only about £8.50 as well, have a read through the thread and watch a few videos on YouTube, the ones in the OP of the topic are great. There are no objectives to the game but it's so addictive!

Alien Swarm - On Steam and Free if you don't already have it. top down shooty team game.
I just picked up Titan Quest (RPG/tactical/adventure type thing for £2.50 so even if it's crap it's cost less than a pint.
Plants V Zombies and World of Goo are good as is Altitude. all a bit casual type games.
Have you tried Left 4 Dead or Portal/TF2/Half-Life? (team zombie shooter, fps/puzzle, team deadmatch and fps classic respectively)
Dawn of War2 - Warhammer 40k based rts
Deus Ex - A classic rpg/fps

Oh, one more - Batman - Arkham Asylum best game I've played for ages.

Mount & Blade: Warband has had me addicted for awhile - only picked it up as a cheap time killer and I've played it more than the last COD game.

I'd pick portal out of that list, very addictive... Long enough to keep you interested, but not too long that it takes over your life!
