(PC) What games have I missed?

Hi,
I used to be an avid PC gamer for years, but didn't bother upgrading my AGP system when it ran out of steam a few years back. I have recently built a new desktop which seems to run games very nicely indeed so am looking at what I missed inbetween. The last games I played on the old machine was COD: Modern Warfare and Batman Arkham Asylum (prior to that, we're going back to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Splinter Cell Double Agent...).
So far I've played through COD: Modern Warfare 2, I'm nearing the end of Splinter Cell Conviction and am in the process of getting bored with Colin McRae Dirt 2. I'm not really a multiplayer man, so was looking at Mafia 2 and GTA IV but neither get that great reviews... Anything cheap and cheerful I can be playing?
edit:: Actually, just realised I should point out I what games I like! I'm mostly a FPS, racing games with odd strategy thrown in (Total War Medival 2). I'm not a great fan of monster / aliens games as it always feels like an AI cop-out (things like FEAR didn't do it for me).

Alien Vs Predator - aliens I know, but I have it on my PC.
Half-Life 2 (Orange box which includes 2 extra episodes)

F1 2010

Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl (was cheap on Steam when I bought it as there are newer Stalker games out)
Battlefield 2 (old now but you can easily run it maxxed out now

ok, so maybe I have played more good games than I realised! Crysis and Crysis Warhead were great!
I played bit of Modern Warfare 2 online, but nothing major as I'm not really a fan. The problem for me is that I like to dip in and out of games without having to learn/remember things and I find unless you practice at multiplayer it's no fun (hence no counterstrike).
For similar reasons massive open spaced games (Stalker, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 from the review I just read) don't really do it for me. Whereas something like Call Of Duty and it's mission based approach does. Then again, the whole, die and try again, die and try again, die and try again... then succeed the mission which you didn't understand what the purpose was and in the cutscene be killed seemed OTT and very boring!
I'm really liking Splinter Cell Counter Strike though, the way it's on rails is fine as it feels you're playing out a movie although it is a wee bit repetitive and you're beating flaws in AI rather than anything else.
