Mass Effect 3 - Trailer
Discussion

Mass Effect 2 didn't get much of a mention on here, I think the only thread about it was buried in an Bioshock 2 discussion, but it was by far the best game of 2010 for me. Looking forward to this immensely.

Oh my - the excitement's building already great teaser trailer for a fantastic game series.
/me goes off to maximise my money and complete all add-ons to port my character across!
I'm hoping they're release a cheap "collectors edition" on PC shortly before ME3 with all the DLC included - they usually do to drum up some more interest prior to a sequel./me goes off to maximise my money and complete all add-ons to port my character across!
By-and-large I think most of the DLC is pretty average, aside from the Lair of the Shadowbroker, which is excellent, especially for those who played ME1 and have a past with Liara.

Do I need to play the first game or can I skip to the second?
Personally I'd say play the first game as it's designed as a Trilogy and you'll "miss" a number of significant character stories coming through into the second (and third) game that have evolved from the first game (eg: survivors from your first game come back in the second with stories and conversation trails that relate to how you dealt with them and treated them in the first. It's also an excellent game in its own right, but ME2 was a considerable better evolution, especially around the combat system IMO
So, new information (or new to me anyway)
ME3 is going to be even LESS RPG focused than ME2, and more shooter focused
not good news in my opinion!
Also, contrary to what we were told during the ME2 launch, if Sheppard dies in ME2, you can't continue without him in ME3, it was said by Bioware than if Sheppard dies in ME2 you have to play without him in the sequel, but now, if Sheppard dies in ME2, you have to start a NEW game in ME3, so none of your choices from the previous 2 games will be taken into account.
OK Bioware, I know it's a bit harder to create a game that can be played through with Sheppard as the protagonist, or with some other guy/gal who's not sheppard. Conversations, plots and such, but come on, if you SAY you're going to do something, then DO it, don't back out then remove all reference to what you said previously, that's just low.
Though after all that, I'm still looking forward to it, just wish I hadn't wasted the time to do a third (or was it fourth?) playthrough of ME2 where Sheppard dies now
