I've not played Xbox much since November. I admittedly had 4 weeks out of the country prior to Christmas which meant I didnt actually miss it at all, however since coming back, I played a bit of BC2 Vietnam, but not really taken to it like I used to with games. Ive tried playing a mates Forza and wasnt overly impressed, and now I'm back playing on Fifa 10 and wondering if I should buy Fifa 11?

I traded quite a few in this week, including previous CODs and Black Ops is also going back due to its woeful online play.

Do you eventually "grow out of it"??

I have ups and downs all the time.
I play on PS3 and PC mostly (but also have an xbox, wii and psp). I used to play all the time on Counter-strike and day of defeat 2-3am every night. These days I don't go on-line multiplayer much at all, can't be bothered with all the idiots.

You don't grow out of it your tastes change.

As above, Your tastes just change I think, I hate going online against a load of 10 year olds with attitude problems. I have to come off within an hour.

If you have a group of like minded people it makes the whole thing 100 times better IMHO.

This.

I will often switch on the xbox and turn it off again within 20mins if the people I play alongside most are not online. If I do stay on I mute every other player in the lobby.

With the right bunch of players (Spetz, Redbull, RArthoon, GIJnr, B3njx, Fanny, etc etc) not only do we tend to win non stop (a few games won by 7500/1500 type score ratios) but sometimes I can't see properly to shoot because I'm laughing so hard at the banter.

Yup I am in a similar boat to the Op.

Black Ops/MW2 - online -forget it, its hacked/modded/glitched to heck and even avoiding that lot, wayyy too may people on there who sit and play 4hrs + per day and are untouchables. Basically for the casual gamer it just not fun.

Lately I've actually been playing Earth Defense Force (EDF). This game is ancient, the graphics are pretty crap, no online mode and the game play is just nuts. But its the most fun I've ever had on an xbox game, honestly you gotta play it to appreciate how crap and yet fun/good it is lol.

Also I still play a fair bit of left 4 dead II online mode. Again another simple/fun online game. That charger howl and bowling over the enemy survivors just never gets old :-)

As above I don't think you grow out of it I just think priorities change and your interests change. I play mine maybe 2 hours a week now and used to play 3 hours a night usually but I just find other things I want to do these days.

I've noticed I'm not in th mood to play as much any more. I have several games awaiting a proper play, but never seem to get around to it. I, too, hate playing online. I let my Live Gold account lapse, I never used it.

I go through phases of using my xbox; didn't touch it for many many months, then around July last year started playing again regularly but only say 5 or 6 hours a week. Don't play online anymore though; can't be bothered with all the agro so just plump for single player and keep myself entertained.

I think my experience has been partly soured by the poor online play of Black Ops. To be honest, its absolutely terrible to play, and at £40+ for the game, its a disgrace. I know cost of games hasnt gone up in about 20 years so maybe we need to be grateful for that but tech has got lot easier to access and I imagine the industry makes a killing on it now.

Development costs are massive.
Plus console games have to license the tech to produce the game (why PC games are cheaper).

I feel the same, about gaming in general. I bought loads of games from Steam over Xmas, click to play them, and realise I am not at all interested. Even GT5 on the PS3 - played it for a few hours but felt positively underwhelmed, and have had no great impulse to play it again since Xmas.
Still play the Total War and Civ 5 games though - but they arn't so 'frantic' and seem more relaxing.

And I used to (and still thought I did) love the shooting and driving games - now, they're all much of a muchness. No game now seems to make me feel the way they did the first time I played the original Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, Sileny Hill - now, the games seem like pale imitations with better graphics but gameplay for the attention defecit disorder generation - or me just getting older and harder to please..

In you opinion, one that myself and quite a few others would disagree with.
