Forza 3 - Quick Tuning Query

Having read EVOs review of the BMW 1MCoupe, I decided to hit Forza and make my own, but with a little bit more grunt... What I've made is a car that looks good, sounds good and goes pretty well too, but only once moving, it's a right pig to launch, it just spins up big time in 1st, 2nd gear is okay. I'm utterly useless with this tuning lark, but is there any way to sort of, limit the torque in 1st and 2nd or something similar?!
It weighs 3,247lbs and produces 358bhp and 358lb-ft, by the way...

A lot of cars are tricky to launch, but just like in real life, it's all about how much throttle you give it. My diesel golf mk3 will be hard to launch if I floor it then sidestep the clutch (I might have to wait a couple of seconds for the revs to build up though
)
I find it best to hold the revs a bit below the red line, then release the throttle slightly until the wheels stop spinning, by which time I can apply full throttle again. Tuning for a good launch is best reserved to drag racing imo, whenever I have attempted it it was a pig to drive afterwards.
For the Mazda, 457bhp through the front wheels will always be tricky, maybe you need to compromise with softer suspension to help on the bumps, and tighten the diff too, although I've never been that good at tuning the diff...

Ta, yeah, with both, as soon as I touch the throttle again they spin up
with the BMW I short shift to 2nd and the Mazda 3rd. My 1083bhp Viper SRT10 ACR is less of a pig 
Mixed results here with the diff, it helped the Mazda with cornering, but made no difference to the 260bhp mk6 Golf GTI...

What class have you built your 1 series to??
I've got one at A600 and it seems ok - nowhere near my fastest car in A class but not too bad. I'll post up my build in a while and you can save it and compare the two if you like

PS - like Alex said 400+ brake through the front wheels is never likely to be a good thing - lose a load of power, drop it down a class or two and see how it goes then

Had a quick go and refined the tune I had on it. It's not super quick but not too bad either - did a 1.26.2 round Road Atlanta with it.
Is A600, 393 brake, 360 lb ft, 2711 lbs.
Mods are sport fuel injection and cams, race exhaust and valves.
Race brakes, race springs, roll cage and full weight reduction.
Sport clutch, sport box, race diff
Race tyres, widest tyres
BMW spoilers (not really needed but hey...)

the tyres have a bit to do with it - The race ones take a lap to give full grip unless you drift the first couple of corners and before they warm up they're dreadful. Go for the first tyre upgrade, but make the wheels as wide as possible, and it should be a bit better off the line.
For tuning the diff I like to go to Camino Viejo, since it has quite a lot of corner variety. The Deceleration setting is best used in conjunction with the brake balance to find a balance between stability and steering. The acceleration is a bit more interesting. Generally I try to use the ARBs to get the steady cornering state to just the understeery side of neutral, and then slowly tweak the diff until I've got a decent range of throttle between that understeer, and a "corrective" oversteer. I seem to run my cars with higher diff numbers than most, usually Acceleration is at about 66, and I leave deceleration at 75.
It's all dependent on driver aids though, if you have TCS and STM on you'll probably run everything nearly wide open since the STM will brake a spinning wheel.

Thanks, I only use the ABS, by the way. Andy, I've used your tune, it's a little understeery now, but once the back end lets go, it's far more controllable, nice one, thanks. I'll post a Road Atlanta Time with it in a second, manual, ABS only

That's the best way to set the car up. If it's too oversteery you lose a lot of time. But if you set it up for initial understeer you can always correct it on the throttle.ETA: 1.31.6 in mine
