Returning faulty game 3 months on...
Discussion
Got GT5 at Christmas.
It seems to have a few bugs in it, i.e. can't play Rome, Nurburgring + other things.
What's the stance from a shops point of view. Surely you only get to find these bugs as you progress through the game and if you don't play it alot then you wont know it's faulty for a while.
Any thoughts ?

Don't you need to go online to activate some of these tracks, etc? Or is it a known bug?

Think they get unlocked by doing certain events in GT mode.
The bug occurs during the first lap on two circuits so they're not ones I need to unlock. There are other issues which are obviously bugs and nothing I'm doing wrong.
Suppose I'll just have to see what the shop says..
I suppose if it's definitely the disc that is problematic you could buy a new copy and accidentally get the discs mixed up...and then return the 'new' one as faulty if the 3 month issue is a problem...
I'd try to reinstall it first though and/or try swapping discs with a mate to confirm the problem. Ask someone clever how to save your game data first though!

Legally they have to give you your money back, as a fault within 6 months means the fault was there from the start blah blah you can find all this on teh tinterweb,
But however, no one will take back open software and give you the usual "Its opened, you could have copied it" s
t.
Try your luck at the shop, then send a letter to head office giving them 14 days to resolve the issue, then issue a county court summons usually does the trick.

County court summons...... I'd probably just bin the game tbh. To much hassle for £40But however, no one will take back open software and give you the usual "Its opened, you could have copied it" s

Thanks for the help thus far.

That's interesting. As I just want to swap it for one that works, I think they'll find it difficult to accuse me of having copied it.lazyitus said:

Delete your install data and reinstall it maybe? Could've corrupted the first time or something...
How do I do that? And will it wipe everything I've achieved so far?failing that, do a backup of all game saves and format the PS3. that'll solve it, last resort though of course.

view my sticky thread on creating and restoring game saves and make a game save. wipe all the installed data from the GT5 main menu - settings - i think it's at the bottom somewhere.

This looks promising - I'll give it a try tonight. Thanks. failing that, do a backup of all game saves and format the PS3. that'll solve it, last resort though of course.
