Damn you, Steam.

Why did you let me have Mass Effect for a tenner?
Why did no one tell me about this wonderful game?
Now, all it needs is some decent ship-to-ship combat (like, say, Freelancer - which I liked a lot but never quite bought into, because it didn't successfully make space seem big) and it'll be perfect...

Just checked my Steam friends list to see you're still battering away at it.Why did no one tell me about this wonderful game?

I had a similar experience with the Star Wars KOTOR games. I'd go on for a quick game and ended up still playing at 3am unable to pull myself away.
Do you have Mass Effect 2 to play after that? If you do there's the extra challenge of trying to bed the lovely Yvonne Strahovski

I could sit here and wax lyrical about the ME games for ages. But once you've finished ME1, get straight into ME2.
For me, ME1 had the better story, and better RPG elements, but ME2 is the better game overall (just). Just don't forget that all your decisions count, and I suspect they'll be releasing a "Ultimate Pack" for ME2 soon, with all the DLC in time for ME3.
I've started the first and have the second on the shelf, but never really got into it. The biotics seem completely pointless and hard to use, and the endless side plots for random junk seem to just distract and ruin any sense of urgency from the main story.
As I recall I am presently stuck needing to get into the vehicle garage on some planet and the whole building looks identical. Also my squad whinges every time I pick a decision that isnt the cute and fluffy kittens one - whats the point in giving me a choice if you're just going to berate me for making it??

Tried X ?CommanderJameson said:
I have X3:Reunion in my Steam account; couldn't, for the life of me, get into it.
Ditto, tried really hard, but the learning curve is beyond vertical, when I accidentally went for a space-walk and then literally just touched my own ship by mistake and 'died' I completely gave up.Almost as big a waste of money as GT5!
Will I enjoy ME2 on the PS3 more, if I play ME1 on the PC first? My PC is pretty basic but it should be able to cope with the original game, I doubt it would handle ME2 though. (Besides, I'd rather play it on the PS3 as I get to sit on the comfy sofa with the 50" Pioneer etc.)
I realise I wouldn't be able to use my PC save game for the PS3 game, but is it worth a go anyway?
