Just picked this up but bloody psn is knackered.
Iv been playing socom since the first installment. I wasted many hours of my teens playing socom 2. First thoughts playing campaign is that the controls are more basic than Socom 4 which should help online. I seen a few people on my friends list were playing the beta last month so hopefully its not too buggy.

still messing around with the sharpshooter settings but getting along much better now .. the turn rate on default was dog slow.. and even with the dualshock with sensitivity right up it felt like such a slow game.. now tho the sharpshooter is so damn quick im over shooting the target
.. need more practise/tweaks but much happier tonight than last night online.
im very impressed with getting into games compared to CoD's.. everytime i get in straight away, no noticeable lag (possibly because being hit by a bullet actually kills people!) and yet were runnign 30+ players. brilliant. headshots are so satisfying (especially looking down the sights of the sharpshooter).. the big splurt of blood being noticable at some distance!
not sure its better than CoD.. not the respawn games anyway (that im currently playing to learn the maps).. but Classic mode [1 life/round] i cant wait to get properly into..cant beat a bit of stealth/tactics.. its a real shame there are no hostages to extract though
