x box 360 ring of death advice please?

Well my 360 has got the dreaded ring of death fault. I am aware microsoft cover this for three years.

Has anyone any experience of this fault or have sent their console back to them? How did it work?

I have just checked my play account and it appears i ordered my xbox on 10/04/2008 and its gone tits up today. 2 weeks after the warranty ended!!! are they likely to fix it as a good will gesture???

Best bet is find someone that does cheap xbox repairs,a mate of a mate fixed mine for £20 and its been OK for the last year,it may be worth ringing MS customer service but it was about £90 if out of warranty.

Just tried to sort it online via microsoft site and they recon i am still covered and will fix it for nowt, get in lol.
