Recommend a compact camera for me

Hello,

My first visit to the photography forum as I'm after some advice.

I want to buy a point n shoot camera at around the £140-£160 price range, currently looking at the Panasonic Lumix FS35 but is there anything else I should be considering? I.e. should I push the budget up to a TZ10?

It will be mainly for family snapshots & a bit of video recording.

Gary, doing the same myself at the moment and have narrowed it down to the Canon IXUS 220. Plenty good but with the added bonus of full HD vid and stereo sound recording.

The Lumix TZ range are great. I've had one for years. On the back of shots taken with mine my mum and sister in law got one.
Great point and shoot cameras and the HD videos look great (for a camera). My mum just plugs the SD card in the TV (42" Viera Plasma) and they look great, i was very impressed.

No idea what other brands are good in this price range, but i'd have no hesitation getting another.

Lumix FX-40.

Cracking little camera. Did a lot of research when looking to buy my partner a compact for her birthday. My budget was £150 and narrowed it down to either the FX-60 or FX-40. Went for the 40 as the 60 was just above my budget at the time.
